Family Fun Day – Recreational Saturday Sailing
Aug 19 @ 11:00 – 16:00
Family Fun Day - Recreational Saturday Sailing

It’s a day for sailing adventures, fun afloat and a chance to catch up over a BBQ at the end of the day!
Like Wednesday night sailing, these Saturdays offer supervised sailing for families and individuals alike who wish to enjoy some recreational sailing and build water confidence with the comfort of a safety boat nearby. It’s open to all but you should be a competent sailor as there won’t be any instruction. You are welcome to hire club boats providing you have obtained Stage/Level 1 certification – please see your membership pack on how to hire out club boats.

PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN FOOD SUPPLIES FOR THE BBQ AND LETS MAKE A PARTY OF IT!

Our junior trophy races are slightly longer courses which run for 30-40 mins off the club start line alongside the main club racing. Cadet Coaching

Cadet Coaching days offer FREE informal sessions run by a team of instructors.

  • Sailors are grouped based on ability and we take them through various coaching exercises afloat, depending on the weather conditions, so that they can practice and improve. We begin the day with a briefing then normally go afloat before the racing fleet; a break for lunch, more sailing and racing in the afternoon; then we finish, often with a BBQ ashore for all (bring supplies)! Beginners will normally be introduced to the day with skills exercises and some fun; racing groups will do more advanced racing drills and training. All of them tend to get wet!
  • Most of our young sailors are in Optimists or Toppers. If you don’t have your own boat don’t worry, you can use club boats free of charge on coaching days. By using Optimists and Toppers sailors are all in similar boats which helps them learn and it also helps us to coach!
  • If you’d like to borrow a boat, p[lease contact Charlotte in advances she’s able to allocate boats
  • Sessions start at 10:00am and the sailors will need to be rigged, changed and ready to go out sailing after their briefing. We break for lunch and finish the day at 16:00 (packed up and boats put away).
  • No need to book, but if you can let us know by email if you’re attending it will help us to plan the days. We will have a registration form to fill out on your first session of the year.
  • Make sure you’re on our email list to receive reminders!
Junior Points Racing Series (run as part of Cadet Coaching)
Aug 27 @ 10:00 – 16:00
Junior Points Racing Series (run as part of Cadet Coaching)

Our Junior Points Series is run as part of Cadet Coaching days and offers a coached fleet to help even the most inexperienced beginners take part & make it around the course having fun!

You can learn to start racing during our cadet coaching days when we run the junior points series in the afternoons. We use the standard trapezoid ‘square’ / inner loop/ outer loop courses they are familiar with from the junior & youth racing circuit. Races tend to be quick 20-30 min long with a combined start for all classes of boats and are scored on a handicap system. During these races, coaches will be on hand to help those new to racing make it around the course ensuring its never too early or daunting to get started! It’s so much fun with lots of banter amongst the kids.

Acorn Llangorse On Board Regatta
Sep 2 @ 09:00 – Sep 3 @ 16:00
Acorn Llangorse On Board Regatta

A great event for newcomers is the RYA Cymru Wales OnBoard  Llangorse Acorn Regatta. We encourage all our budding racers to come to the LSC Acorn regatta – it’s great fun and a fantastic opportunity to start racing in a low key fun environment on home turf. There’s a coached fleet called the OB Regatta Training fleet where Charlotte & Will will be two of the coaches there to help new racers make it around a basic ‘square’ course. This is the perfect opportunity for new sailors to make that leap from sailing to racing!  Plus there’s a separate Silver & Gold fleet for those more experienced racers.

Registration and more details at RYA CYMRU.
