The club
Llangorse Sailing Club was founded in 1953 on the north-west shore of the picturesque lake from which it takes its name. Nestling in the heart of rural Wales, sandwiched between the Brecon Beacons and the Black Mountains and in easy striking distance of Cardiff, Abergavenny, Bristol and Hereford, Llangorse is ,arguably, one of the most beautiful places to sail in the Britain today.
The aim of the club is to encourage sailing as a sport for all age groups. Club members can sail on the lake, other than in the designated "no go" areas as shown on the map in the Club house, at all times except during January. The membership ranges from those who find enjoyment just sailing around the lake through to the racing enthusiasts. By special arrangement, schools and other similar organisations can apply for membership.
Classes of boats that the club wish to encourage include Flying Fifteens, the current fleet stands at over 20, Fireballs, Tasars, Lasers, GP14s, Enterprises, Mirrors and modern asymetrics. Club byelaws prohibit boats that are over 21'6" long, that will not go into an 8' berth or weigh more than 400kg.

Changing rooms are available to members throughout the sailing season, which runs from March to November. The Clubhouse is open on club days (Sundays and Bank holidays) and reasonably priced lunches and light refreshments are available on club days.
ACTIVITIES
RACING
Club racing takes place throughout the sailing season. This is based on racing for Spring, Summer and Autumn Series competitions as well as shorter Series held over one or two days and other special events.
TRAINING
As a RYA Registered Training Centre, the club has always been keen to encourage members to learn to sail and improve their skills. To achieve that objective, the club runs a series of training courses during the season. The courses go from a first introduction to sailing, right through to practice racing sessions. A special course for the younger members of all abilities is held during the summer half-term week (Cadet Week), with a follow up prior to the WYA/PGL Regatta later in the summer.
